Future Tech Advancements Of Construction Technology

Design Aspect of the Construction Process

In design, computer-aided design software, or CAD for short, is widely used in construction. The technology back then allowed for manual input by architects, drafting technicians, and engineers.

Today, CAD allows anyone to design a house, although all of these would have to be approved by an engineer. The approval makes sure the structure or the design is physically possible, as the poor design will cost more than wasted money and materials and risk being a hazard.

While computer-aided design is good, we’ve reached technological advancements in AI-assisted design. For example, some programs allow for multiple plans to be laid out and compared.

If the software detects any inconsistencies, such as incompatible electrical layouts to plumbing, it will notify the individual of such errors. Data sets are needed in every field of AI, so the possibility of a program designing houses from user input is possible.

For example, a software developer may make a program to build houses according to the number of rooms indicated by a user, the type of windows, and materials.

Engineers could rely on software for road safety, with the software identifying significant risks in a road via simulation of traffic. Construction engineers would have an idea of where to put pedestrian lanes or speed bumps.

With advancements in AI, it might be possible for a program to have a significant enough database to fill in missing details, almost akin to human pattern recognition.

Planning

In the planning phase of construction, canvassing is essential. From the cost of professional services to materials needed and the fees required for certifications concerning constructing buildings, a lot of the planning will require multiple individuals.

That’s why companies that help develop technologies for making construction a collaborative effort are growing. They provide the tools necessary for multiple teams to be updated in the planning phase constantly.

Most of the technology required in the planning phase of construction involves communication tools which the software industry is never short of. Collaborative software like Slack, Monday.com, and other workplace-related AI help make project completion faster.

Finance

In finance and accounting, advancements in cloud technology allow businesses to upload information online rather than have a dedicated on-site accountant.

The goal of cloud technology companies specializing in accounting and financial services is that they’re less costly and thus helps reduce labor costs associated with recording and analyzing fiscal data.

There is also software that helps centralize costs and expenditure into one platform, although this may still fall under accounting duties.

The advantage of centralizing the costs and expenditure is a clear picture of the construction progress, whether it’s an office building or a residential area.

Contracts

In terms of writing and document analysis software, there have been massive improvements. Technological advancements in writing and text-based analysis mean legal paperwork is processed quickly.

Like how accounting work can be done in the cloud, all legal contracts can be drafted using AI.

While some would object to this due to possible inaccuracies (AI is no exception to mistakes), the final verdict will still be on a legal representative (e.g. lawyer).

In addition, some AI and software can extract data from contracts much faster than if it would be done manually. This improves project completion rate and reduced costs.

Which Professionals Contributes To The Advancements of Construction Technology?

Many advancements in construction technology are a combination of efforts from various professionals. Engineers make sure the construction process is followed.

Lawyers prepare all the necessary contracts. Material scientists make sure the bricks and glass used to build buildings have properties that will make them last for a lifetime. Accountants make sure finances are recorded.

Any of these individuals can have cross-knowledge on software development or at least involve themselves in the business of construction technology. This makes it possible for the professional to be able to improve the processes involved in construction.

Most of the time, software developers and computer programming experts are consulted on automating these processes. There are several companies dedicated to automating procedures in any of the areas involved in construction.

Most of the time, software developers also have to closely collaborate with each professional assigned in each construction phase to determine the best course of action.

QAs or quality analysts also contribute to the advancements in construction technology. They don’t need to have a background in either construction-related topics or software development.

Still, it becomes a pre-requisite during the onset of =conceptualizing how to automate these systems.
