How To Keep Yourself Updated With Current Affairs

0

One of my teachers calls a person, as ’patient’, when he/she is not aware of the happenings around the world. Accordingly, the number of patients in our society is more than the number of healthy people. Anyways, I find it pathetic when someone doesn’t update themselves with current affairs. “I’m not preparing for any exams to enhance my knowledge”, “I don’t have time to go through newspaper” etc. would be their lame excuses. Firstly you must understand that, updating current affairs is irrespective of any exams /interview. Moreover an insight into current affairs gives you a broader image on the mechanism of society.

current affairs news

1. Newspaper

The initial step in updating current affairs is to read newspaper. It might be boring for beginners, so you can start reading your favorite columns and then the rest. But you should at least ensure that you’ve gone through all the headlines. As days pass by, I’m pretty sure that you will develop interest in following up a particular issue. Also never neglect the local newspaper, as this gives more information about your locality. It’s important to know about your immediate surroundings rather than the rest of the world.

2. Watching Television

Watching news channels every day for at least 20-30 minutes, will also help you to update current affairs. But do understand that visually communicated news, would be effective in its own way and is never a substitute for the newspaper.

[IT’S MORE LIKELY THAT YOU END UP WITH BIASED INFORMATION, WHEN YOU STICK TO ONLY ONE NEWSPAPER OR NEWS CHANNEL. SO, TRY TO FOLLOW 2-3 OF THEM. HOWEVER BE A RATIONAL THINKER. ]

3. Online News

Installation of news app on your gadget is an another way to update current affairs. You can even subscribe to a newsletter or magazine. Check the current affairs sites as often as you can. Following the blogs of your favorite journalists/editors would help.

4. Analysis

This is a crucial part of updating your current affairs. Once you follow the news regularly, you’d be able to formulate an opinion in various issues. Discuss these views among your social circle. This helps you to know different perspectives. Also editorial page in most of the newspapers offers you wide variety of opinions from eminent personalities. Follow these too. Reading books is always a good source to gain knowledge.

When you live in a society, it’s a minimum common sense to know what’s happening around you. Hence, never neglect updating yourself with current affairs. As said earlier ‘Stay healthy’.
